OPTUS EMPLOYEES COMPLETE LEADERSHIP CLASS August 20, 2009
Jonesboro, AR - Eight Optus employees recently completed the first Optus Leadership Development Program. The purpose of the 16-month long course was to prepare the future leaders of Optus' organization by providing them with opportunities to build relationships with peers in other departments, familiarize participants with the telecom industry and the role Optus plays, allow participants to generate solutions for current business challenges and provide leadership development training. Audrey Boggs, Ryan Boyd, Brian Duckworth, Karen Gist, Kenny Payne, Amy Privett, Kendall Ward, and David Warhurst completed the program.
The 2008-2009 Optus Leadership Development Class officially began in the spring of 2008 with a trip to the Arkansas 4-H Center to participate in the ExCEL program. ExCEL is a University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture experiential-based training and development program. It takes teambuilding and leadership to new heights as Arkansas' largest and most experienced challenge course. The remaining classes were taught in Jonesboro either by Optus or through a partnership with the Professional & Workforce Development group within the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development. These courses covered a wide assortment of business management topics all the way from Performance Driven Leadership and Time Management to Finance for Managers. The Professional and Workforce Development group is part of the Arkansas State University College of Business, and offers a variety of programs to assist regional businesses in achieving the highest possible success in their respective fields. They offer an array of customized solutions to help businesses meet the challenges of the ever-changing business landscape.
"Regardless of the economic climate, businesses have to be prepared for whatever the future may hold. A large part of this is preparing our people, especially those that will lead the way for the remainder of the organization. The benefits of this program have greatly exceeded our expectations, not only for the participants, but for our company as a whole. We look forward to seeing what these bright individuals will accomplish in the future" commented Optus President and CEO Mark Duckworth.
